NOTD: Mardi Gras

I promised to make occasional appearances on the blog even though I've put it on hold, so here is a manicure I did earlier this week in honor of Mardi Gras.

I used polishes from Flormar and Essie.

I wish I were in New Orleans now! *sigh*

Happy weekend everybody.

Announcement

As you may have noticed, it has been rather quiet on the blog lately. Those of you whom I follow have probably also noticed that I don't comment as often as I used to, but fret not, I am still following and still reading your lovely posts. But my studies are taking up most of my time so I do not feel like I have time to make comments and blogposts because, you know, blogging is supposed to be fun, not a chore. So I have decided to take a break until I hand in my thesis in the summer. However, I will probably upload some pictures from time to time via my phone because, let's be real, just because I don't blog, doesn't mean I'm not going to have pretty nails! So I hope you stick around until summer when I can start having a life again.

If you want to stay updated on my nails, message me for my Instagram.

Until then,
A bientôt
xoxo

2012 Challenge: Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!
This is the last of the challenges for 2012, the New Year manicure. I made it simple and easy filled with sparkle. I had to put an Instagram filter on it to get it color accurate and I'm uploading from my phone, so I'll link to the girls later.

For now, here's a picture. It's Nubar Petunia Sparkle and Models Own Emerald City.

I've been nominated, y'all!!

You guys! I have been nominated for Danish Nail Blog of the Year - Best Nail Art (Årets danske negleblog - Nail art prisen). I feel so honored I can't even explain. The Danish nail blog Passion 4 Polish does the annual Danish Nail Blog Awards and they have several categories. If you want to vote for me check out this link. It's a Danish blog, so just look for the Aladdin manicure and vote for Sunday Manicures. You can also vote for the other categories and of course you should check out the rest of the blog too, the girls are quite amazing there.

Thanks everyone and have a great Saturday
xoxo

PS. I know it would have made more sense to write this in Danish considering the award and the other blog, but the fact that my blog is English it just didn't feel right.

2012 Challenge: Christmas

The Christmas challenge consists of two manicures; one I made for a Christmas Party and the other is the one I had on for Christmas eve with the family. These are two very different manicures but I liked them both very much. Check out the pictures and I'll talk more after each of them.
This first one is the Christmas party manicure. I started with a gradient between two shades of red topping with OPI Gettin' Miss Piggy with it which unfortunately didn't let the gradient show but the bling and shine is so fab that I didn't mind. I made a snow man on one finger and some snowflakes on random nails.

Overall I loved that manicure and I think I wore it for a week!
The other one is the Christmas eve manicure. I had seen many people doing the tape mani Christmas and though do love that design I didn't want to make the same one, yet I couldn't help to get inspired, so I turned all my fingers into bright Christmas trees with green and lots of glitter! I is very atypical for my to not wear red for Christmas but somehow this worked, I was fairly happy with the outcome, and I hope you liked it too.
Last up is the New Year manicure. I haven't decided what to do yet, so I expect to post an Instagram picture of that on the day.

Otherwise that's all for now, I'll try and make another post today.
xoxo

And not to forget, the other wonderful ladies in this challenge!

2012 Challenge: Winter Wonderland

I finally got the pictures ready and I have some time so I'll try and make some posts for you guys, but stick around, I'm posting these back to back and I'll try to make some scheduled posts for tomorrow in case I won't have time.

First off we have the manicure for the "The rest of 2012 challenge" with theme Winter Wonderland. Most of you are probably thinking blue, silver, and white, and I must admit that was my initial thought too - I was thinking snow landscapes and snowflakes. But when I actually had to do the manicure I found my snowflake lace stamp and decided to try that instead, in pink of course!
I did a reverse accent with stamps on all nails except one.
Are you finding it hard to see the stamps? Trust me, it's not because the pictures are bad. It's not because I smudged the stamps. And it's not because the color combos clash. It's simply because my nails are too small for the image (or the image is too big for my nails), so it's hard to see since much of the image is wasted. However, below I managed to get a better picture on my thumb. Can you spot the snowflake?
The polishes are all from H&M except the stamping polish, that's Konad.
This was the first challenge in December. Though there isn't much winter about the nails, I did like the outcome, but then again, as long as pink colors are involved I'm always happy!
Stay tuned as I will be posting my Christmas manicure next. Or better yet, while you wait, go visit the other girls who are in the challenge too.

Update

Peeps, sorry for the absence. Uni, December, Christmas - the usual - got in the way! I'll try to post the rest of the 2012 challenge before the end of the year along with one or two extra posts during the weekend. But I got studies planned for Saturday and Sunday so bear with me if I don't make it.

I also want to do a little blog renovation, so if you have anything you'd like to see/have access to (for example links to something) on the blog let me know.

I hope you've enjoyed Christmas so far, enjoy the last days of the year and in the meantime I'll to get back to commenting on blogs and managing my own.

Sending jingle bells and fireworks to all of you!

Instagram instant: My birthday

It's my birthday, yaaaaaay!!! It's been a gorg day with cake, presents and my family. I did my nails last night with pink and glitter, inspired by Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games. I also received two nail polishes from my Secret Santa, two beauties that I had been contemplating buying for ages so of course I was extremely happy when I got them. Here you have two pictures of it all, though not totally color accurate.

2012 Challenge: Thanksgiving

Another 2012 challenge post is ready for you lovely people and this time the theme is Thanksgiving. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Denmark, but last year I went to an American Thanksgiving dinner because of my American friends and in honor of that I made a turkey manicure, but I didn't want to do the same this year so I just let myself inspire by the colors of this season. This is what I came up with.
Basically it's just an Autumn manicure and has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, so I put it in a fun frame. Cute, huh?
Next up is Winter Wonderland, I have some ideas, but I'm also really busy so I hope I get to make a post in time.

Check out the other girls too:

Instagram instant: H&M Lady Luck

Short post as I'm out for dinner, but this picture is from yesterday. I thought it was too pretty to put anything on it so I found a matching ring.

It hasn't been Instagramed with any filters, I've just cropped it. Isn't it gorg?!
